Power Sitemaps Search Engines Like!
This article is going to help you alot with submitting your website and it's pages to Google, Bing and Yahoo. There are so many ways of doing this, but I find that this is the one! Let me know what you think, or if you have any other suggestions?
Bellow is a step-by-step guide on how to create Sitemaps Google, Bing and Yahoo like and how to submit these Sitemaps. Another thing, is I left some room for you to discover things yourself, while creating Power Sitemaps Search Engines Like!
| 1. | Got to http://www.auditmypc.com/xml-sitemap.asp |
| 2. | Put in the website url http://www.site.com |
| 3. | Tick the box “exclude images”, unless you are working on a catalogue website or you dont mind your images getting indexed. It's up to you. |
| 4. | Press play at the bottom left of the page to start creating the Sitemap. |
| 5. | Click on the “Sitemap” button at the top of that page |
| 6. | Once the sitemap is finished being made (You can tell this when you see the play button return) delete all the images in the sitemap, just select them, then right click remove… |
| 7. | Also delete any .css files, jpg, JPG, gif, png and any urls that are not part of the site that you are working on like external links. |
| 8. | Now you must save the sitemap to the root of the website that you are working on. Make sure to save the sitemap as: sitemap.xml |
| - | You save the sitemap by clicking “Export” and selecting Sitemap XML |
| - | Then name it and save it |
| - | To test it, go to http://www.site.com/sitemap.xml If your sitemap does not come up, then you have put it in the wrong place! |
Once that is done, you need to submit the Sitemap url to Yahoo, Bing and Google Webmaster tools, you do this by:
| 1. | Login to Yahoo Site Explorer (https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/mysites), Bing Webmasters (http://www.bing.com/webmaster) and Google Webmaster Tools (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/home?hl=en) |
| 2. | Submit the sitemap - You submit it by submitting the url http://www.site.com/sitemap.xml |
| 3. | Google, Bing and Yahoo will ask you to put a verification file on the site (Also into the root of the site). - Yahoo, you can download - Bing, you can download - Google you have to make (Follow the instructions) |
Now all the sites pages will be included in all the search engines.
